Noun in Spanish are either masculine or feminine.

The definitive article (English The).
Before masculine nouns add el and before feminine nouns add la.

Masculine

el muchacho
el edificio
el pan
el profesor
el padre

Feminine

la muchacha
la profesora
la madre
la hija

Articulo Indefinido


There are two ways to say a or an in Spanish.

Un is used before a masculine singular noun.

un ropero
un libro
un disco
un gravador
un Làpiz

Una is before a feminine singular noun.

una mesa
una silla
una flor
una noticia
una madre

Femenino y Masculino

Spanish has two words for the singular el and la.
The reason is that all Spanish nouns, unlike Englis nouns, have GENDER.
Nouns are either masculine or feminine.
El is used before masculine nouns.
un hijo
un padre
un niño
un pastel
un pastor

La is used before feminine nouns.

una hija
una madre
una torta
una pastora
una niña

Singular y Plural

In Spanish if a noun ends in a vowell(a,e,i,o,u) just add the letter S to the singular form of the noun to make it plural.

pizza pizzas
caramelo caramelos
helado helados
fruta frutas
hamburguesa hamburguesas

In Spanish if a noun ends in a consonant(l,m.r.) add the letter ES to the singular form of the noun to make it plural.

jardin jardines
árbol profesor
clavel claveles
mantel manteles
cereal cereales

    Thanks for this lesson.

    This is a good lesson. But I think the english meanings of the given Spanish words will help more to learn the language.

    but it will bf much more easier to understand n learn spanish if you can teach  the words like  masculine and feminine in english
